Dr Ute Liersch is a Chartered Counselling and Coaching Psychologist, author, keynote speaker, and creator of The Psychology of Calm Authority™, a body of work exploring how we lead, live, and flourish when success alone is no longer enough.
At the centre of this work is Dr Ute’s 4R Calm Authority Framework™: Relate to reality, Regulate emotions as data, Realign with values, and Respond through committed action. The framework helps people meet pressure without panic, collapse, aggression, or people-pleasing, and return to the steadiness from which better choices become possible.
With more than twenty years of experience across healthcare, academia, executive coaching, and private practice, Dr Ute works with leaders, entrepreneurs, high achievers, and reflective individuals navigating burnout, life transitions, identity shifts, and the psychological challenges that often accompany outward success.
Her work is driven by one fundamental question: How do we become fully ourselves after life has dismantled who we thought we were?
Dr Ute is the author of Bend! Don’t Break! - The Minimalist’s Guide to Becoming Resilient, where she challenges the popular myth that resilience is simply about “bouncing back”. Instead, she argues that true resilience often begins in what she calls the messy middle: that uncomfortable space where the old no longer fits, the new has not yet emerged, and we are still expected to function.
It is here that calm authority, psychological flexibility, and a deeper sense of self begin to develop: not by returning to who we were, but by learning how to bend, adapt, and begin again without losing who we are.
Drawing on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, existential psychology, EMDR, neuroscience, and evidence-based coaching, she translates complex psychological science into practical wisdom that helps people lead with greater clarity, courage, and authenticity.
Through her books, speaking, podcast conversations, and teaching, Dr Ute explores the intersection of psychology, leadership, resilience, and meaning. She challenges conventional thinking about emotions, identity, success, and strength, inviting audiences to ask not only “How can I achieve more?” but “Who am I becoming?”
Her mission is to make psychology intellectually rigorous, deeply human, and profoundly practical, helping people build lives that are not only successful, but deeply meaningful.
