I am a Consultant Health Psychologist, speaker and educator specialising in the psychology of health, resilience and sustainable performance. My work explores how people can thrive despite chronic pain, long-term health conditions, stress and life's inevitable challenges, bringing together psychological science with practical, real-world application.
With more than 25 years' experience, I help individuals, organisations and business leaders understand the powerful relationship between the mind, body and behaviour. My particular areas of expertise include chronic pain, persistent physical symptoms, sleep, psychological flexibility, resilience, behaviour change and the psychological impact of long-term health conditions. Increasingly, I also speak about how entrepreneurs and professionals can continue to lead successfully when their health becomes less predictable.
I am passionate about making psychology accessible. Whether I'm delivering a keynote, contributing to a podcast, providing expert media commentary or leading a workshop, my focus is on translating complex research into engaging stories, practical strategies and memorable insights that audiences can immediately apply.
Alongside my clinical work, I am the founder of The Adaptive CEO, an evidence-informed approach that helps business owners redesign their businesses around fluctuating capacity rather than sacrificing either their health or their ambition. This work is challenging traditional ideas about productivity and resilience and is opening important conversations about sustainable success for entrepreneurs living with chronic illness.
I have presented nationally and internationally to healthcare professionals, psychologists, therapists and multidisciplinary teams, and enjoy speaking to business audiences about resilience, high performance, burnout prevention, behaviour change and adapting successfully when life does not go to plan. I am equally comfortable delivering keynote presentations, participating in panel discussions, recording podcasts, contributing to documentaries, writing articles and collaborating on projects that bring psychological expertise to a wider audience.
Topics I regularly speak and write about include:
Chronic pain and the science of recovery
Health psychology and behaviour change
Sleep, fatigue and sustainable performance
Resilience beyond "just be resilient"
Psychological flexibility and adapting to uncertainty
Chronic illness in the workplace
The psychology of entrepreneurship and leadership
Burnout, wellbeing and high performance
Clinical hypnosis in healthcare
The mind-body connection and living well with long-term health conditions
My aim is always the same: to challenge assumptions, translate evidence into action and help people rethink what is possible when health, work and performance intersect.
