About Sara Tookey

I am a Clinical Psychologist, Existential Psychotherapist and founder of True North Psychology (www.truenorth-psychology.com), an group practice supporting adults who experience and process the world differently. I work with late-identified and high-masking individuals, particularly women, navigating ADHD, Autism and AuDHD, alongside adults seeking trauma-informed therapy and support integrating psychedelic experiences.

Our approach treats assessment as a comprehensive, supportive process rather than a binary diagnostic exercise. We take a holistic (MDT-informed), unhurried and compassionate approach, aligned with NICE guidance and informed by both DSM-5 and ICD criteria, in deliberate contrast to conveyor-belt assessment services that can leave people feeling reduced to a checklist. A particular focus of our work is on camouflaging and the ways high-masking neurodivergent individuals have often gone unseen by traditional models of diagnosis and care.

I am especially interested in conversations that explore neurodivergent identity beyond diagnosis, the limitations of purely cognitive approaches to therapy, the intersection of trauma and neurodivergence, and the emerging role of psychedelic integration in mental health support. I welcome opportunities to speak, write or collaborate on these themes, whether through podcasts, media features, retreat collaboration, partnership development or joint clinical projects, and am particularly keen to connect with practitioners and organisations working in women's health, LGBTQIA+ affirming care and psychedelic wellbeing.
