About Gisele Fernandes

I am Dr Gisele Fernandes, a Clinical Psychologist with more than 20 years’ experience in mental health in the NHS.

I specialise in helping high-achieving professionals whose self-worth has become closely tied to achievement. Many of the people I work with appear successful and capable on the outside, while privately struggling with perfectionism, impostor feelings, anxiety, self-criticism, overworking, procrastination or burnout. My work helps them understand what drives these patterns and develop a more secure sense of self-worth—one that does not depend on continually achieving, performing or proving themselves.

My approach is warm, thoughtful and evidence-based, drawing particularly on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Schema Therapy. I translate complex psychological ideas into language and practical tools that people can understand and use in their everyday lives. At the heart of my work is the belief that success should enhance our lives, not define our worth.

Alongside my private clinical practice, Psychology with Gisele, I am developing workshops, reflective resources and psychologically informed products that make meaningful psychological support available beyond the therapy room. My work explores themes including achievement-based self-worth, perfectionism, self-doubt, impostor syndrome, emotional wellbeing, identity beyond professional success, healthier ambition and the psychological cost of always needing to do more.

I am particularly interested in opportunities involving speaking, podcasts, expert commentary, writing, workplace wellbeing, retreats and thoughtful collaborations with organisations or individuals whose work supports personal growth and emotional wellbeing. I can contribute both clinical expertise and a compassionate understanding of the quieter struggles that often sit behind outward success.
