I am a psychologist, Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, behavioural scientist and mum of three girls with SEND needs. With a background spanning NHS mental health services, academic research, working for Public Health England and consultancy to start-ups through to large organisations; I have led the design and evaluation of services, products and interventions for mental health, dementia, obesity, and many other areas of health behaviour change.
I have published over 35 scientific articles in the field including content for commercial and marketing purposes; and my passion now is in preventing mental health struggles in children by teaching the skills to cop with our emotions early on.
To that end - this year, I launched Hero Cards®, born out of a mission to give every family access to the kind of emotional tools I wish existed when I was young. Created and written by me and tested with teachers and a range of professionals as well as over 50 families, Hero Cards help children aged 6–12 build emotional resilience, confidence and healthy coping skills — before difficulties have a chance to grow. Hero Cards go deeper than other child products for emotional wellbeing on the market. They offer science-based tools (e.g. CBT) that are typically reserved for therapy, now for home and school - for all children. Teen an SEND editions are in development.
I saw so many adult patients in the NHS struggling - so I am really passionate about teaching these skills early to children so we can prevent struggles - how to think and how to cope when life is inevitably tough. Emotional strength for kids: Made simple.
My experiences, both professional and personal lend themselves well to writing articles (I wrote an article published in the Huff Post recently), podcasts and other media. I am relatable and authentic in my approach, but also provide the science - offered in the simplest way for busy parents, offering real tools in a way that children will actually engage with.
I am able to produce high quality written and digital content that appeals to various audiences and can be used for tailored collaborations that meet the needs and interest of parents, teachers, children and teens.
