I am a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist, Clinical Supervisor, EMDR Practitioner, and former Clinical Lead with more than 25 years' experience working with children, young people, families, and the professionals who support them.
My work centres on children and teenagers experiencing anxiety, trauma, attachment ruptures, emotional distress, school attendance difficulties, low self-esteem, and behavioural challenges. I am interested in helping parents and professionals understand what may lie beneath a child's behaviour when normal explanations don't seem to fit.
My career has spanned psychotherapy, youth work, education, bereavement services, and the charity sector. As well as working therapeutically with children and families, I led an NHS-commissioned emotional wellbeing service, advised professionals across a range of settings, and worked closely with schools, safeguarding teams, social care teams, and CAMHS. Therapeutically I have spent many years working with looked after and adopted children and working with complex trauma and dissociation. I worked many years in child bereavement and have extensive experience working with homicide, suicide, military, child deaths and illnesses. I also have extensive experience working with neurodiversity.
I provide clinical supervision, reflective practice, consultation, and training for therapists, youth agencies, schools, charities, and multidisciplinary teams. This combination of frontline, leadership, and advisory experience gives me a broad perspective on the challenges facing children and young people today, and the interactions and challenges in the systems around them.
I work to make complex psychological ideas accessible without losing their depth. Whether speaking to parents, professionals, or wider audiences, I draw on real-world experience to explore child and adolescent mental health, attachment, trauma, relationships, emotional wellbeing, and school-related distress in a way that is thoughtful, practical, and easy to engage with.
